Chris Brown said… Ian, as you know I recently helped to judge the Sunday Times Estate Agent of the Year Awards for Peter Knight. The biggest message to come out of the very high quality of applicants was as plain as a dogs tail - the best in every category had increased their spend, training, service and commitment to provide their clients with more of EVERYTHING, and then increased their fees, very successfully. This is good management of resources, excellent use of skills and above all, in every case, illustrated that training and improvement of the business was key to doing more than surviving, each entrant had increased their fee income and turnover, during what must have been the most historically difficult trading conditions.
For those of us old enough to remember the horrid times during the last forty years this only strengthens my belief that reducing fees and cutting services to attract "business" is without doubt counter productive, and exactly NOT what their clients require. Results is what vendors need, and if they feel that their agent of choice is providing a better chance of success they will pay (obviously within reason) the going rate. The agents job is not to talk of what could be but to supply what is possible and to regard every challenge as an opportunity.
I will happily address any group of agents in respect of the above, please let me know. Regards, Chris.
Unsure - believe it is a case of time will tell.
Chris Brown said… Ian, anything I could do to help would be good. How many words? In respect of joining one of the groups once again, be delighted. What do you suggest?
We have found that there has been more movement in commerical property than previous years but certainly not as bouyant as in the past. What has your experience been?
Bard Vos said… Mostly to the UK, then France, Spain and Portugal

No we don’t I’m afraid.
