Getting your Pet to Italy
It’s now alot easier to get your British born pet abroad thanks to new regulation. It takes the stress out of the move and more importantly takes the stress off the pet and takes quarantine out of the equation.
Firstly what are the new requirements?
At the moment the scheme only counts for Dogs, Cats and Ferrets. For other animals like Rabbits, mice, rats and other rodents a passport is not needed. The rule is basically for pets that can contract Rabies.
Next there are a few things that need to be done.
-The pet needs to be microchipped.
-A vaccination against Rabies.
-The Pet now needs a Pet Passport for travel to Italy.
- Every time the pet returns to the UK it will need to be treated for Ticks and Tapeworm.
In order to get a PET passport you will need to contact your vet and they will provide the relevant documentation.
