Morocco or the kingdom of Morocco is situated in North Africa and is a part of the Maghreb region with Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania and Lybia. The political capital is Rabat but the largest city is Casablanca. Moreover, there are other important cities like Marrakesh, Salé, Agadir or Nador.

Morocco is a constitutional monarchy and the king holds the most part of executive power.
The main languages spoken by Moroccan people are Moroccan Arabic and Berber. Both have regional dialects and accents.

The Mediterranean climate dominates the North of the country as well as the mountains and there is about 100,000 European expatriate, mainly in Casablanca.

At the economic level, Morocco is the world’s biggest exporter and third producer of phosphorus. It is a mineral used as a fertilizer for agriculture and farm production, the steel production or water treatment.

If you are moving to Morocco, you might like to know that Casablanca and Tangier became new service and industrial poles, which allow a diversified economic growth of the country. But don’t forget the tourism, information technology and textile sector, which also play an important role in the economic growth of Morocco.

The culture is diverse and wide due to the historical backgrounds. People came from the East (Jews, Carthaginians, Arabs), the South (Sub-Saharan Africans) and the North (Romans, Vandals, Andalusians). These civilizations led to various forms of beliefs like Christianity or Islam.

Morocco celebrated the 50th anniversary of its independence in 2006. (It recovered its political independence from France in 1956.)

If you live in Morocco, you will enjoy the cooking with the use of spices in the Couscous or Tajine that you will drink with a cup of traditional green tea with mint.
